The first 30′ free practice session of the Macau Grand Prix F3 a permis au Suédois Marcus Ericsson, champion du Japon en titre, de signer le meilleur chrono. Le leader de l’équipe Tom’s Toyota (victorieuse en 2008 avec Kunimoto) a devancé Edoardo Mortara (Signature VW), le duo Brendon Hartley - Daniel Ricciardo (Carlin VW) and the Monegasque Stefano Coletti (Prema Mercedes).

The ART team does not seem to have shown its full potential, Bottas placing 6th, Bird 8th and Jules Bianchi 9th.
Second French driver present, Jean-Karl Vernay (Signature VW) discovered the track this morning and finished 11th.

Several contacts with the formidable Macanese rails of course punctuated the session, the first to the credit of the Briton McKenzie, others for the American Rosenzweig or the Spaniard Victor Garcia, initiator of a first red flag.
