Robert Wickens achieved the best of the first free practice session in Barcelona, in 1:39:568. The Canadian beat the 2009 champion, Andy Soucek, as well as Nicola De Marco and Frenchman Julien Jousse. The other tricolor, Tristan Vautier, was tenth in time.
