Lucas Auer (Mücke Motorsport) took pole for Race 1 of the F3 European Championship in Hockenheim. The Austrian took the best place on the grid with a lap completed in 1'32"387, ahead of Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) by a tenth. Ed Jones (Carlin) shares the 2nd row with Max Verstappen (Van Amersfoort Racing) whileEsteban Ocon (Prema Powerteam) set the 5th fastest time ahead of Tom Blomqvist (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin). On the other hand, Antonio Fuoco (Prema Powerteam) will only start from 17th position on the grid.
