Lucas Auer (Mücke Motorsport) dominated Race 1 of the F3 European Championship where he started on pole. The Austrian won ahead of Carlin drivers Ed Jones and Jordan King, author of a good comeback from tenth position. The reigning British F3 champion notably benefited from clashes in the peloton involving Max Verstappen (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin). Esteban Ocon (Prema Powerteam) looked set to cross the finish line in second place but the Frenchman encountered a fuel problem on the last lap causing him to drop to ninth place.
