The British Callum Ilott (Carlin – Volkswagen) and Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam – Mercedes) were the fastest in the two free practice sessions of the European Championship F3 on the Portuguese route of Portimão. Ilott set the best time in EL1 in 1'42"122 ahead of Sergio Sette Camara (Motopark - Volkswagen) and Nick Cassidy (Prema Powerteam - Mercedes), while Dennis dominated EL2 with a benchmark set in 1'42"101 , preceding his teammate Felix Rosenqvist and Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin – Volkswagen).
On the side of Signature – Volkswagen, Alexander albon finished twice in eighth place, while Dorian Boccolacci took 11th and 20th places.
