Felix Rosenqvist (Mücke Motorsport) was the fastest in free practice at Hockenheim, setting a time of 1'34"735. The Swede is ahead by 163 thousandths Carlos Sainz Jr (Carlin), while Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam) and Tom Blomqvist (ma-con Motorsport) follow two tenths behind. Alex Lynn (Fortec Motorsport) completes the top five ahead of Daniel Juncadella (Prema Powerteam), the Championship leader. His direct rival Pascal Wehrlein (Mücke Motorsport) is only 13th in the session, almost seven tenths behind.
