Two big incidents influenced the outcome of the third race at Zandvoort, contested on a wet track that was drying out. At the start after two laps under safety car, pole sitter Sven Müller made the mistake of relieving the accelerator before the line, his teammate Raffaele Marciello being unable to avoid hitting him. The others took advantage of the safety car to go to the pits and put on slick tires, but the big beneficiaries were Juncadella, Buller and Wehrlein, who had opted for smooth tires on the grid and finished in the first three places.
A second accident involving Lewis and Blomqvist caused a second neutralization, before a final 4′ changing nothing on the podium.
