The two teams with the engine Mercedes have started the season well. After Mücke Motorsport in race 1, it was Prema Powerteam who scored a double in race 3. Immediately in the lead, while Melker was overtaken from the start, Roberto Merhi seemed to be heading towards his second success of the weekend . But his teammate and fellow Spaniard Daniel Juncadella, also supported by Mercedes, was biding his time to surprise Merhi at the end of the Mistral straight with 5 laps remaining. And from the outside please!
Isolated in 3rd place, Marco Wiitmann signs a new podium, but the Signature/VW team is warned: the Mercedes clan reacted well to that of Volkswagen which had dominated the 2010 season. The race of Nigel Melker (Mücke) is interesting for the technical analysis of this first meeting. The Dutchman, like yesterday in race 2, seemed much more comfortable in the second part of the race, after a difficult start. Perhaps we should see here the effects of certain adjustments aimed at maintaining good grip at the end of the course, the new Kumho tires being designed to pose this type of problem.
