The first two free practice sessions of the Spa-Francorchamps meeting in the European Championship F3 were largely disrupted by the rain and turned to the advantage of Niko Kari (Motopark) and Nick Cassidy (Prema Powerteam).

The Finn was the fastest in the first session, contested under a real deluge, and concluded with the best time achieved in 2'35″407. Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Nick Cassidy completed the top 3. The New Zealander from René Rosin's team subsequently took the lead in EL2, on a drying track, setting a best lap in 2' 30″211. Callum Ilott climbs back into second position and precedes Joel Eriksson (Motopark).

Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing) takes 15th and 14th places, while the championship leader Lance stroll (Prema Powerteam) ranks 5th and 4th respectively.
