Raffaele Marciello (Prema Powerteam) achieved the two best times in the first qualifying session at Hockenheim and will therefore start on pole for the first two races (with a best time of 1'33"623). The Italian will start alongside his teammate Alex Lynn in Race 1 and Tom Blomqvist (Eurointernational) in Race 2. Daniil Kvyat (Carlin) took pole for Race 3 with a time of 1'33"367. The Russian will start on the front row with his teammate Jordan King.
