The Dutch Max Verstappen (Van Amersfoort Racing) was penalized after the first race of the F3 European on the circuit of Red Bull Ring in Austria for going outside the track limits and gaining an advantage over Antonio Fuoco on the second lap. The rival of Esteban Ocon (Prema Powerteam) in the championship, who had taken 3rd place in the first round, was penalized by 5″ on his race time and suddenly fell to 5th place, allowing Jake Dennis (Carlin) to win the 15 points of the 3rd place.
Verstappen is now 106 points behind Ocon overall.
