The German team Mücke Motorsport proved to be the most effective during this first race of the Euro Series season on the Paul Ricard circuit. The Dutchman Nigel Melker, starting from the 2nd row, took command on the 3rd lap from the Spanish poleman Roberto Merhi, before clearly escaping. After halfway, Swede Felix Rosenqvist overtook the Prema Powerteam driver to complete the double for the Berlin team.
Angelo Rosin's Italian team consoled itself with the 3rd and 4th places of Daniel Juncadella and Roberto Merhi.

This first race turned into domination Mercedes, the Signature/Volkswagen team suffering major setbacks. The Belgian Laurens Vanthoor, who started on the front row, quickly got stuck in the peloton and could not do better than 8th. Marco Wittmann had a problem on the grid which forced him to start late from the pits, before moving up to 5th at the cost of improving the fastest lap. Carlos Munoz finished 6th and Daniel Abt, on the defensive, ended up being caught at the start of the straight by the Japanese Kimiya Sato (Motopark) on the 8th lap.

The second race this afternoon will see Laurens Vanthoor start in pole position, with the Pole Kuba Giermaziak (Star Racing Team) alongside, thanks to the reversal of the first eight.
