In the second qualifying session marked by the arrival of drizzle on Franorchamps, the American Gustavo Menezes, teammate of Max Verstappen at Van Amersfoort Racing, took pole position for race 2 ahead of his Dutch teammate. Esteban Ocon, hampered in his last lap, will have to settle for 3rd place on the grid. But the Lotus driver F1 Team Junior, by achieving the best 2nd lap, will start on pole for race 3 ahead of the Swede John Bryant-Meisner (Fortec) and the Puerto Rican Felix Serralles (West-Tec).
