By signing two victories and a second place at the Nürburgring, Roberto Merhi made a hole in the Championship and came dangerously close to the title after a disappointing weekend from his former direct rival Marco Wittmann (Signature). The Prema Powerteam resident did not attack in the last race to try to score a hat-trick, preferring to concentrate on the Drivers classification which he leads by 64 points.
“Saturday was a splendid day for me with my two victories”, recalls the Championship leader. “My start to the last race was very good and I was on my way to taking the lead. I didn't take too many risks in the fight for victory because it's the title that matters to me and second place also brought big points. »
