Günther between the drops at the Hungaroring

The first qualifying session of the FIA ​​weekend F3 at the Hungaroring took place on a wet track following a violent storm which hit just before the green flag. At the end of the 20 minutes of driving, Maximilian Gunther (Prema) was the fastest in 1'49''369 on the Hungarian track.

He was ahead of rookie Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort) by more than three tenths and Jake Hughes (Hitech GP) by almost a second. Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) finished fourth in the same tenth as the Briton.

Callum Ilott (Prema) was 5th, 9 tenths behind his teammate and was the highest ranked of the championship leaders. Lando Norris (Carlin) was only 7th while Joel Eriksson (Motopark) was 18th, his team lost in the setup as their four cars finished in the last four places.
