Did Liam Lawson (Team Motopark) buckle under the pressure? The resident of Red Bull Junior Team, dominant both in practice and in Race 1 on Saturday in Pau (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) was much less sharp during qualifying for the 78th Grand Prix (start Sunday May 19 at 15:20 p.m.). The New Zealander only set the fourth fastest time.

Pole position went to his teammate Julian Hanses (Team Motopark). The German, who achieved his best result in Formula 3 Europe in the Béarnaise city (7th), beat the Japanese Yuki tsunoda and Marino Sato.

Two red flags interrupted the qualifying session, due to the accident of Jack Doohan (Double R, 12th) under the Oscar bridge and a spin by Billy Monger (Carlin, 11th) at Beaumont Park.
