Dave Ryan, racing director of the W Series, confirmed that the winner of the 2020 campaign of the championship reserved for female drivers, will not be able to defend her title the following year, as the British Jamie Chadwick will do next year.

“As of the 2020 season, the W Series gained eligibility for FIA Super License points, says Ryan. One of the criteria is that the W Series championship winner cannot compete in multiple championships consecutively and this restriction will apply in the future.

This did not apply to the 2019 champion, as no Super License points were awarded for the title. But the 2020 winner will not be allowed to participate in the 2021 championship, and so on. »

Dave Ryan also admitted that the idea of inverted grids, seen on trial at Assen in the Netherlands, could potentially return to the championship.
