At the end of a first qualifying session marked by several red flags, caused in particular by Lando Norris (Carlin) and Daniel Juncadella (Hitech GP), the exit of the latter putting a premature end to the session, António Félix da Costa (Carlin) signed the provisional pole on the Guia track in Macau, as part of the Cup of the world F3.

The winner of the 2012 edition completed his best lap in 2'11″535 and precedes Callum Ilott (Van Amersfoort Racing) by 226 thousandths. Double title holder, Felix Rosenqvist (SJM Theodore Racing by Prema) climbs to third place, 262 thousandths behind the Portuguese and ahead of Kenta Yamashita (Threebond with T-Sport), winner of Japanese F3, and Daniel Juncadella.

Anthoine Hubert (Van Amersfoort Racing) ranks 14th before the second qualifying session scheduled for tomorrow. The combined times from both sessions will determine the starting grid for the qualifying race.
