Q1 – First pole for Jake Hughes

Jake Hughes (Hitech GP) took its first pole position of the season at the Norisring with a time of 48”231. He was ahead Lando Norris (Carlin) by only two thousandths. Pedro Piquet (Van Amersfoort Racing) scored his best qualification in F3 with a 3rd place.

Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam) was 4e a tenth from pole just ahead of his teammate Callum Ilott. Ferdinand Habsburg (Carlin) was 6e in front of Guan Yu Zhou (Prema Powerteam) and Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing).

Jehan Daruvala (Carlin) and Harrison Newey (Van Amersfoort Racing) completed a top 10 in less than 2 tenths. Note the new poor performance of championship leader Joel Eriksson (Motopark), qualified 17e.
