The first free session of the Macau Grand Prix saw the Italian Antonio Giovinazzi (Carlin) set the best time in 2'13, ahead of Felix Rosenqvist (Theodore by Prema, 829'2) and Markus Pommer (Motopark, 14'583?2). 15th, Lance stroll (Theodore by Prema) was the best of the Rookies in front Alexander albon (Signature), 10th. Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort) ranked 13th, Dorian Boccolacci (Signature) 22nd.
The session was punctuated by two red flags, the first following an exit from Jake Dennis (Theodore by Prema), the second after the exits of Solomon (Double R) and Ilott (Carlin). Another hit recorded, that of Alexander Sims (Double R).
