As in the first free session on Thursday, it was a driver using the Volkswagen engine who took the lead. But after Giovinazzi yesterday, it was the turn of the German Markus Pommer to set the best time in 2'11:102, at the wheel of his Motopark team Dallara. Behind him, Felix Rosenqvist placed his Dallara-Mercedes by Theodore by Prema Powerteam in 2'11?423.

Best rookie of the session, Charles Leclerc confirms its rise in power with the 3rd time (2'11?614). The Van Amersfoort driver beat Giovinazzi (Carlin), Stroll (Prema) and Juncadella (Fortec). Dennis, Jensen, McLeod and Ilott complete the top ten.

On the Signature side, Alex Albon remained in the top ten for a moment, before making a slight impact, damaging his left legs, and falling back to 11th place. Dorian Boccolacci was making progress at the start of the session, also entering the top ten. But stronger contact in the San Francisco corner, destroying his left half-wheels, caused the only red flag of the session. The youngest Lotus driver F1 Junior Team is finally 21st.
