The first part of qualifying in two groups (even and odd numbers) allowed Roberto Merhi (Manor) to set the best time in 1'31 ahead of Van der Zande (Hitech), Bianchi and Vernay, a red flag having split the session into two parts. The other group, disturbed by two red flags caused by Guttierez then Wittman, highlighted Mika Mäki (Signature) in 094'1 ahead of Vietoris, Bottas et Ricciardo.
Tambay qualified by taking 8th place in his group, unlike Marsoin.
At 15:05 p.m. the session will begin determining the places starting from 21st, followed at 15:35 p.m. by the final qualification for pole position and the first 20 places.
