Jolyon Palmer, after starting from pole, wins the first race of Formula 2 of the Monza weekend. The Briton was however beaten at the start by the Dane Johan Jokinen, who led the first half of the race. Jolyon Palmer, son of Jonathan Palmer, promoter of the discipline, took advantage of the appearance of the safety car to take control, finally winning ahead of his compatriot Dean Stoneman and Kazim Vasiliauskas. Belgian Benjamin Bailly finished sixth, ahead of Johan Jokinen and Frenchman Benjamin Lariche.
