Enrolled this weekend at the Nürburgring by the Austrian team Neuhauser Racing in the German championship F3 (ATS Formel 3 Cup), Alsatian Tom Dillmann perfectly seized the opportunity to first bring his Dallara/Mercedes in 3rd position in the first race behind the championship leader, the Belgian Laurens Vanthoor, and the Dutchman Stef Dusseldorp (both driving the Dallara/VW of the Dutch team Van Amersfoort Racing).

In pole position for the second race (in the rain, he was more than 2″ behind second Tim Sandtler), Tom Dillmann dominated the German and won his first victory in the discipline with a 12″ lead.

For his part, Vanthoor secured the 2009 title, succeeding his compatriot Vervisch and giving the latest generation Volkswagen engine its first title.

Tom Dillmann, removed due to lack of budget in 2008 from the SG Formula team and the Red Bull Jr Team (and not just for lack of results), had already been invited to race at the end of last season in the Italian championship by the young Europa Corse team, which had earned them several podiums. The Rixheim driver, in high demand recently by teams in need of “sizes”, will be racing this week with an Italian team using Mygale. To be continued…
