At the wheel of his car motor Toyota, Kazuki Nakajima won the fifth round of the Super Formula this morning. On the Autopolis circuit, the Japanese from Team Tom'S, outgoing champion, beat his compatriots Hiroaki Hishiura (Cerumo Inging) and Kamui Kobayashi (Team Le Mans). Seventh, Naoki Yamamoto (Team Mugen) is the first Honda driver to finish. The German André Lotterer (Team Tom'S) and the Belgian Bertrand Baguette (Nakajima Racing) finished 11th and 16th respectively.

Author of pole position, Hishiura retains the reins of the general classification heading into the last two meetings. Credited with 41 points, he will however have a lot to do to thwart the return of Nakajima, back to 7 lengths.
