Nightmare day for Joan Mir at Spielberg. The Spanish driver, who started 8th, crashed in the 4th turn. Left in high side with his Suzuki, the 2020 world champion landed badly on his right leg and was taken to hospital. “I had a very big accident at turn 4. I lost the rear and it was a high side. It could have been a lot worse, so I feel lucky. The first checks show some bone fragments and fractures in my ankle. Tomorrow I will have more tests and an MRI to check the ligaments,” Joan Mir said in a post on Suzuki's Twitter account.
