Sepp Wiegand (Fabia S2000) remains at the head of the Rally San Marino after SS2 at Mercatello won by Giandomenico Basso (Fiesta S2000) who completed the 24,1km in 20'25"3, six seconds better than the first leader. “The course was very difficult and it was very hot. I made two mistakes and I was afraid to attack”, comments the Italian.

Andreas Mikkelsen (Fabias S2000) came closest, falling three seconds behind. “The stage was very slippery. I wasn't comfortable with the tires because we were sliding everywhere. »

Umberto Scandola (Fabia S2000) resists Andreas Mikkelsen but the Italian only has a one second lead over the Norwegian when he returns to service. After encountering fuel pressure problems, Germain Bonnefis (207 S2000) recovered by finishing 24 seconds from the scratch despite other mechanical problems. “It was a good stage for us. I didn't have a handbrake and the hairpins were hard to negotiate, but we'll be able to fix that now. »

Sepp Wiegand has a 3”3 lead over Umberto Scandola and 4”3 over Andreas Mikkelsen. Giandomenico Basso is ten seconds behind the leader. Germain Bonnefis is already almost four minutes late following his various mechanical problems.
