Kajetan Kajetanowicz (Ford Fiesta R5) retired from the first special of the second stage of the Rally of the Azores. The reigning champion went off the road after just 2km.

Alexey Lukyanuk (Fiesta R5) took control and now has a lead of 41s over local driver Ricardo Moura (Fiesta R5). Bruno Magalhaes (Skoda Fabia R5), another local driver in the event, completes the top three, around ten seconds behind his compatriot. Nikolay Gryazin (Skoda), leader of the Junior U28 category, and José Antonio Suarez (Peugeot 208 T16 R5) complete the top five.
