Lukyanuk untouchable in the Canaries

The title already awarded, theERC is without this weekend its champion Andreas Mikkelsen and Nikolay Gryazin, both entered in the Rally from Monza in WRC2. In the absence of two of the main headliners of the season, the Canaries Rally, the final round of the 2021 campaign, was marked by the domination of Alexey Lukyanuk during this first day of competition.

On the Spanish archipelago, the Russian was practically flawless by winning 8 of the 9 special stages at stake this Friday on the Canary Islands side. On another planet at the wheel of his Citroën C3 Rally2, Alexey Lukyanuk finished this first day 32 and 6 ahead of the Iberians Efrén Llaren (Skoda Fabia Rally36) and Enrique Cruz (Ford Fiesta Rally2). despite a 2 second penalty. The Pole Mikolaj Marczyk (Skoda Fabia Rally2) and the Italian Simone Campedelli (Skoda Fabia Rally10) completed the Top 2 this Friday, respectively 2 and 5 behind the leader.

The only Frenchman in the Top 10, Yoann Bonato (Citroën C3 Rally2) is in 6th place. After 9 contested special stages, the Habs are 43” behind Alexey Lukyanuk.

Eight stages are on the program for Saturday in the Canaries, the last of the 2020 season.
