The Arras court yesterday acquitted the pilot of rally Fabien Véricel who was being prosecuted for manslaughter following the accident which took place on September 8, 2007 at the Béthune rally, during which a six-year-old boy died.

The court considered that the setting was that of a motor competition, the rules of which are not those of the highway code. “ The driver gives all the more free rein to his virtuosity as he has confidence in the organization which, in principle, has completely secured the circuit », declared President Olivier. “ I have a thought for the family in pain. But for me it is a relief to see the court recognize that there was no fault on my part. », Confided the former member of the French FFSA rally team to the daily Progress.
