Neuville now has a 10-point lead over Ogier in the fight for the honorary place of vice-champion before Australia. Hyundai regains some air against Toyota with an 18-unit lead.
Ott Tänak (Toyota) is the new WRC champion at the end of the Rally de Catalunya won by Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). The Estonian took 2nd place, ahead of Dani Sordo (Hyundai) by 4 tenths. Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai) keeps 4th place for a little more than 6 seconds ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota). Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) finished 6th ahead of his teammate Teemu Suninen. Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) takes 8th place ahead of Mads Ostberg (Citroën), winner of WRC 2 Pro, and Éric Camilli (Citroën), winner of WRC 2.
Ott Tänak also took the scratch in the Power Stage by 3 seconds ahead of Elfyn Eva. Thierry Neuville followed in 6rd place ahead of Dani Sordo and Sébastien Ogier.
Teemu Suninen suffered a scare when he hit an embankment, tearing off part of his hood.
Tänak: “It’s hard to describe the pressure I had this weekend. It's the most beautiful day of my life. I realized my dream. A big thank you to the team. My mother told me last night that I had to do everything to get what I wanted and that's what I did. »
Tänak becomes the first non-French WRC champion since 2003 when Solberg was titled.
Tänak becomes the new world champion! The Toyota driver takes the scratch with a 3″ lead over Evans and takes 6nd place from Sordo by 2 tenths, preventing Hyundai from scoring a double!

Neuville fails 2 tenths behind Evans and secures victory in the Rally of Catalonia!
Tänak is ahead in the first partial… Things seem to be going well for the Estonian.
Sordo sets the 2nd fastest time, 2″6 behind Evans, ahead of Ogier by 2 tenths. The Spaniard secures 2nd position. “I gave it my all this weekend. I lost a little time on the gravel stages on Friday, but we had fun on the asphalt. We'll see what Tänak does. »

Tänak started the Power Stage. The Toyota driver is very close to the coronation.
Loeb sets the 4th time 8s behind Evans and secures 4th position with a 6″ lead over Latvala. “I didn’t ride well today, but we protected our 3th place. We could have done better. We had ups and downs this weekend. »
Latvala ranks 4″9 behind Evans, setting the 3rd time behind Ogier. The Finn secures 5th place. “I was low on confidence at Wales Rally GB, but it came back a bit here. I need to be more calm while driving, I'm too aggressive. »
Evans improves Ogier’s time by 2″8 and secures 6th position. “I felt really confident in the car. We tried several things and not all of them worked. »
Suninen reached the finish line 13″4 behind Ogier. The M-Sport driver secures 7th position. “I came out wide. I had lost 3s on the first pass and I wanted to improve my time. We will not be able to score bonus points after this error. »
Suninen lost a dozen seconds and looks like he can maintain a high pace. He should keep his 7th place.
Suninen made a mistake when he hit an embankment. The Finn in 7th place was able to leave but his Fiesta was damaged.
Ogier improves Meeke's time by 7″5 but the Toyota driver slowed down towards the finish. The Citroën driver secures 8th place. “It wasn’t a dream weekend. We wanted to continue the fight as long as we had a chance, but fate decided otherwise from the 2nd special. »
