Da Costa leads the FR 3.5 tests in Barcelona

Antonio Félix da Costa set the best time on the first day of Formula Renault 3.5 Series testing at the Catalunya circuit. Kevin Magnussen, however, occupied first place for most of the session.

Da Costa leads the FR 3.5 tests in Barcelona

Formula drivers Renault 3.5 Series benefited from good weather conditions for this first day of testing in Barcelona. Kevin Magnussen (Dams) was the first to stand out with a time of 1'29"216 ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne by two tenths and Marco Sorensen (Lotus) by almost six tenths, while the French Norman Nato (Dams) and Arthur Pic (AV Formula) completed the top five at mid-session.

Kevin Magnussen remained at the top of the standings after the restart until Antonio Félix da Costa (Arden Caterham) set the best time of the day with a time of 1'28"935. The Dane closed to the Portuguese to less than a tenth in the final moments. Marco Sorensen (Lotus) followed two tenths ahead of Will Stevens (P1 Motorsport).

Testing for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series will resume tomorrow before the start of the season at Monza in two weeks.
