FR3.5 – Sorensen does it again at the Red Bull Ring

Marco Sorensen seems irresistible on the Spielberg circuit. After winning his second pole in Formula Renault 3.5 Series, the Dane once again stood out by setting the best time in qualifying for the second race with a lap in 1'16"233. The Lotus driver is once again ahead of Nigel Melker (Tech 1 Racing) and Kevin Magnussen (Dams) who were already following him on the podium and who are only a tenth behind the poleman. The Dutchman lost pole when his best lap was taken away for slowing down the Championship leader.

After retiring following a hydraulic pressure problem, Stoffel Vandoorne (Fortec Motorsports) recovered by moving up to the second row in front of Will Stevens (P1 by Strakka Racing). Norman Nato (Dams) takes seventh position ahead of his compatriot Arthur Pic (AV Formula) who will still be able to aim for good points this afternoon by starting alongside Antonio Félix da Costa (Arden Caterham). William Buller (Zeta Corse) and Sergey Sirotkin (ISR) complete the top ten on the grid. The gaps remain very tight with 19 drivers grouped within less than nine tenths.

The start of the second race of the Formula Renault 3.5 Series will be given at 14:30 p.m.
