Zeta Corse has announced its crew for the first round of Formula Renault 3.5 Series contested this weekend at Monza. The Italian team formed on the basis of BVM Target has signed Mihai Marinescu for the full season. The 24-year-old Romanian tested with the team after three seasons in F2. The latter will compete this week alongside Emmanuel Piget, called in to help the team line up its two cars on the starting grids. The 29-year-old Frenchman has not competed in a race since 2010 when he competed in European F3 Open.
“The Zeta Corse program started a little late. As a result, when it came time to sign with the drivers, most of them were already taken.", recognizes Team Manager Claudio Corradini. “Marinescu was nevertheless effective during off-season testing and will be with us throughout the season, but it has been difficult to secure a second driver for the year. Although we tested several drivers during testing (Daniel Zampieri, Mihai Marinescu, Dino Zamparelli and Nick Yelloly), contracts were not established. We will ride with Emmanuel Piget at Monza. Even though he is not very well known, I know him well and I also know his preparation and his professionalism. We will see for the next rounds. »
