At only 15 years old, Enzo Deligny is already facing his first mea-culpa on social networks. Disqualified from Race 3 of Formula 4 Spain on the Barcelona circuit on Sunday for non-compliance with a drive-through then a black flag following a crushing maneuver on an opponent at the start, the French hopeful let it pass the storm, before posting a message on Instagram this Thursday, November 16.

The pilot supported by Red Bull explains the circumstances in which this series of incidents occurred, and acknowledges its wrongdoing. “I have taken the time to reflect on what happened last Sunday in Race 3. I will not try to find excuses or justifications.

Don't stop (at the stand) while the black flag was being waved was stupid, and I had no idea of the consequences when I made that mistake. I also recognize that my defense of Valerio (Rinicella) was not correct. I will learn from this and strive to ensure that this does not happen again. I sincerely apologize to Valerio, the promoter, the Federation, my team and all the people I disappointed. »

This statement is corroborated by the comments that AUTOhebdo had collected following the meeting from Guillaume Le Goff, Enzo Deligny's manager. « The radio didn't work. He has had a new radio since he started testing in FRECA, so they changed it on his helmet, it worked in race 2, but not in race 3, explains Le Goff. Afterwards, he had no idea the importance of what he was doing. If we had told him on the radio, he would have stopped straight away. He was sorry after the race, he apologized to everyone. It's more ignorance than anything else. He had never been confronted with a black flag, either in karting or by car. »

If the 15-year-old did not stop, it was because he thought he could change the commissioners' decision after the race. « He thought the drive through penalty was unfair, and he told himself he was going to continue to negotiate with the stewards after the race, to try to have the penalty overturned. This is what he had in mind, obviously without knowing that there was no negotiation possible. He didn't do anything dangerous, he didn't insult anyone, he didn't put any mechanic in danger. No one has ever explained these situations to him, he learns, it's a youthful mistake. It’s a big mistake, but the Spanish Federation saw Enzo’s good faith after the race”. Enzo's manager nevertheless recognizes too virile defense on Rinicella.
