What next career path for Sophia Floersch? While the young German, almost 23 years old (on December 1st), has alternated in recent years betweenEndurance (with participations in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the European Le Mans Series, where she won two podiums) and in Formula 3 (championship where she is playing this season with PHM Racing by Charouz), which of these two disciplines will she head towards?

« In recent years I have participated in long distance races rather than formula races, she says in an interview with the German version of Sports Illustrated. The return to the car, with Formula 3 this season, was a big step, but we achieved it with the support ofAlpine. Accordingly, the Formula 1 got closer again. Ultimately, there are only two steps left to get there, but there is still a long way to go. For me, the next two or three years will be a constant learning process in order to then be perfectly prepared to take the plunge into the shark tank that is F1. »

Floersch should continue in Formula 3

With this in mind, Floersch should therefore continue in Formula 3 in 2024, always with the support ofAlpine, although its name may have been associated with the tricolor Hypercar in recent weeks. “ With Alpine, we are probably planning to drive in Formula 3 again next season, she confirms. Normally, we spend two years per junior series. The first year is dedicated to learning and gaining experience, the second to success. »

For Floersch, its integration into theAlpine Academy for this season is “ the biggest step [she has] achieved in this sport so far. As a young driver, it is extremely helpful to have a Formula 1 manufacturer behind you. Of course, on the one hand there is the financial support, without a doubt, but on the other there are the engineers and coaches who have years of experience in sports, including in the youth sector, in Formula 3 and Formula 2. You go into a lot more detail and you become a more complete driver. »
