Soon the end of the adventure between Chip Ganassi Racing and General Motors. While the American team was until now Cadillac's main partner in the operation of the V-Series.R in the GTP and Hypercar categories of theIMSA and WEC, the relationship between the two parties will end at the end of this year 2024.

« Chip Ganassi Racing has a fantastic history with General Motors, declared the general director of CGR, Mike Hull, to our colleagues at RACER. Given everything we've done with them, many partnerships have been defined for what we've accomplished. NASCAR,Extreme E, IndyCar, DPi and LMDh have all been successful programs and we have shared equally the lessons learned from this success to improve together. We will never close the book on General Motors when it comes to the future. We just know this chapter is ending. »

The Detroit (Michigan) firm will therefore have to turn to new teams to continue running its prototypes in the two major championships.Endurance in 2025. In IMSA, Action Express, the defending team with the Caddy #31, seems like an obvious choice to operate two V-Series.Rs in the North American series. It remains to be seen who could take over in the WEC.

Still according to RACER, three teams would be on General Motors' radar for this: United Autosports, TF Sport and a third whose name has not been filtered. Choosing Tom Ferrier's team would be a logical continuation since it already operates the new General Motors Corvette Z06.R in the LMGT3 category of the FIA WEC while competing in LM P2 in other championships. This new chapter could also be an opportunity for Cadillac to move to two full-time cars in the WEC in 2025.
