Who has never dreamed of seeing each of the most exceptional vehicles in motorsport face-to-face? Well Red Bull did it! The energy drink brand, omnipresent in each of the automobile and motorcycling disciplines, organized a “drag race” (a straight line race, standing start) between five high-level horses.
In lane number 1, the Red Bull RB8, world champion of F1 in 2012, driven by the pilot Alpha Tauri Liam Lawson. To his right, the KTM RC16 of Dani Pedrosa, racing legend MotoGP. In the center, the Ford Puma Rally1 entered this season in WRC, piloted by the French Adrien fourmaux. In the 4th line, the Peugeot 208 WRX of the 2019 world champion rallycross, Timmy Hansen. And finally, on the far right… a van. But not just any van: the 2400 horsepower electric Ford Transit SuperVan, which finished 2nd at Pikes Peak last June with Romain Dumas!
Monsters of power, performance and speed competing on a straight line of a few hundred meters, what could be better? In this little game, spoiler alert, it is the KTM which quite logically wins thanks to its power-to-weight ratio much more impressive than any car (270 horsepower for 157 kilograms). MotoGP is well ahead of Romain Dumas' SuperVan, which finishes neck and neck with the Red Bull RB8. The two cars rally, despite better acceleration at the start, brought up the rear, with the Ford Puma Rally1 in last position.
