Martin and Makowiecki savor victory

After a successful start from Frédéric Makowiecki who started on pole, the No. 41 Ford GT of Marc VDS Racing retained the lead throughout the race, even if Richard Westbrook and Peter Dumbreck remained very threatening with the Nissan GT. -R n°22 since they finished less than two seconds behind the leaders.

Frédéric Makowiecki was under the pressure of having to maintain the pole advantage at the start, coming out in the lead after the first corner. “I was in the best place and it was important to come out in front after the first turn because overtaking is dangerous on this circuit”, explains the driver of the No. 41 Ford GT Matech. “I was very satisfied with my first stint, I wanted to give Maxime (Martin) a good car during the pit stop. This new victory in the qualifying race makes me happy because we will be on pole tomorrow and it is a good result for the whole team who did a very good job. »

Maxime Martin just had to finish the job, but he admits to having kept one eye in the rearview mirror. “The car was very good, Fred did a very good job in the first part of the race”, he adds. “I had a little lead on Richard (Westbrook) after the pit stop, he was quick at the start but the gap then remained. He attacked quite hard and it was difficult at times to keep a regular pace but we had a good race and we are in a good position for tomorrow. »
