Paul di Resta, DTM Master

In Shanghai, there were still three of them who could win the title of champion of DTM : Bruno Spengler (66 points), Paul di Resta (63) and Gary Paffett (57). Spengler, who started at the back of the grid, knew that his chances would be difficult. He still had to hope that his adversaries would neutralize each other. But that was not the case: di Resta started in the lead, before losing time during his first pit stop, allowing Paffett to take control.

Out of the points, Bruno Spengler was out of the picture, when Paul di Resta, finally second, scored a sufficient number of points to secure his first DTM title. “ I'm really very, very happy, reacted the Force India test driver. It's a dream come true. I thank my entire team as well as Mercedes-Benz for this incredible season. »

Winner this Sunday, Gary Paffett knew he had little chance of being titled. He was therefore not disappointed by his final second place. “ It was a difficult race but I couldn't do better. I lost points earlier in the season. Otherwise, the battle against Paul would have been more exciting today. But I send him my most sincere congratulations, he deserves his title. »
