This season, Alexandre Prémat will team up with Mike Rockenfeller within the Audi Sport Team Phoenix, in DTM, the German touring car championship. The Frenchman welcomes the arrival of the German pilot at his side. Together, the two men established themselves in Le Mans Series in 2008 at the wheel of an Audi R10 TDI from Audi Sport Team Joest.
« Knowing that Mike was going to be my teammate was really good news., confirms the French pilot. We won the Le Mans Series together. In DTM, there has always been a healthy rivalry between us, in terms of door-to-door duels, with always a lot of respect. »
This year, the DTM will be the only program for Alex Prémat, who will not compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Ingolstadt firm. He will therefore put all his strength into the touring car championship, where he will however only have an old model of the Audi A4, with only four drivers (Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider, Martin Tomczyk and Oliver Jarvis) driving on board. of a latest specification A4.
« I made this decision [not to ride in Endurance] in agreement with Audi, and it was anything but easy. But, from now on, I put all my energy into the DTM championship, in order to be the best driver at the wheel of an “old” car, to score as many points as possible, and if possible in every race. »
