The domination of Martin and Makowiecki

The Martin-Makowiecki crew of the No. 41 Marc VDS Racing Matech Ford GT hit hard in Ordos by winning in both races ahead of the No. 22 JRM Nissan GT-R of Westbrook-Dumbreck. However, the winners did not have an easy weekend because the Nissan always remained present in their wake.

Maxime Martin was in charge of maintaining the start advantage, starting on pole after their victory on Saturday. “This weekend was simply perfect with the pole and the two victories”, summarizes the Belgian. “We have to thank the team for the work done throughout the weekend, the car worked better and better. Fred (Makowiecki) had a very good stint yesterday and he did the same today. I got off to a very good start and had an interesting fight with Richard (Westbrook). Nevertheless, this race was perfect. »

However, victory in the Championship race almost escaped Marc VDS Racing when Peter Dumbreck came out of the pits just behind the No. 41 Matech Ford GT which was driven at the time by Frédéric Makowiecki. “I tried to do a very fast exit lap but Peter came out of the pits very close to me,” said the Frenchman. “He put a lot of pressure on me but I was able to open a slight gap which helped me. The car was quite difficult in set-up and it was not easy to attack. I had to concentrate until the very last lap of the race. It's a fantastic moment to achieve the first FIA GT1 Championship victory in China. »
