Jean-Philippe Dayraut widens the gap

Jean-Philippe Dayraut did not need to compete in the entirety of the second qualifying round in order to secure first place overall over the two sessions. Efficient and author of very good times, the Skoda driver was able to impose his Fabia during the first round with a good lead over his rivals. During the second session, they did not manage to erase his time, the Haut-Garonnais was therefore only able to compete in two of the four planned laps in order to save his tires for the rest of the weekend.

Second in the first round, Alain Prost (Dacia Duster) tried to beat the time of the defending champion but contact with the wall of snow condemned the Professor, who stopped after three laps. It was ultimately Olivier Panis (Skoda Fabia) who set the best time in the second qualifying round, allowing the cars prepared by AS Events to do the double.

On an accounting level, the good deal is to be attributed to Jean-Philippe Dayraut. Despite a ballast of 60 kg, the Skoda driver was able to be the fastest in the Alpes-Maritimes resort. He pockets 60 points, six points more than Alain Prost, and takes his lead to the top of the Andros Trophy at 18 points. The two men, first and fourth overall in the qualifying heats, will not meet in the final and could therefore each score 20 points during the closing races of this first day.
