Dakar – Nani Roma takes the last stage, Peterhansel the big winner!

The Dakar is over! And for this final stage between La Séléna and Santiago, the capital of Chile, it is Nani Roma who wins, while Stéphane Peterhansel offers himself an 11th historic victory over the most famous rally-world raid.

As he had announced, this last day was marked by caution for the big winner of the day. From start to finish, Stéphane Peterhansel ensured the final victory. By limiting himself to a time of 1 hour 47 minutes and 53 seconds, well behind the fastest of the day, the Frenchman further inscribes his name in the history of the Dakar, and obtains an 11th coronation. The fifth in a car, to which are added his six victories obtained on a motorcycle.

But the man of the day was Nani Roma. The Spaniard concluded this Dakar in style with a third stage victory during this 2013 edition. Despite his performance this Saturday, the Mini driver of the X-Raid team did not finish on the podium in the general classification, which was his objective. Paying for his disappointment the day before on the 13th stage, where he lost nearly 15 minutes on the first sector, the Iberian pilot finished fourth overall.

Although he gave his all on this final special, the gap which separated him from Leonid Novitskyi was too great. Especially since today's special stage, very short and without any particular difficulty, could not allow him to make the difference. In the general classification, Stéphane Peterhansel is therefore the big winner ahead of the South African Giniel de Villiers and the Russian Leonid Novitskyi. See you tomorrow in Santiago, capital of Chile, for the awards ceremony.
