MY Racing launches into rally raid with two Hummers

After rally, the rally-raid. MY Racing is embarking on a new adventure by purchasing the two Hummer H3s built and developed by Robby Gordon Motorsports. The Belgian team intends to participate in the 2014 Dakar by entrusting one of its new acquisitions to Yazeed Al-Rajhi, the Saudi rally driver. “The acquisition by MY Racing of the two Hummer H3s built by the American Robby Gordon's team, but also of its two ultra-equipped assistance trucks and a large batch of parts is part of our desire for development », details Charles Deffontaines, the new Operational Manager of MY Racing.

Whether in the hands of the American Robby Gordon or the Qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah, the Hummers have always stood out during their participation in the most famous rally-raid on the planet even if they have never succeeded in achieve final victory. “When examining the new FIA regulations in force for rally raids, the Hummer appeared to us to be the type of vehicle with the most interesting potential”, explains the manager of the Belgian team. “Being in reality a large two-wheel drive buggy benefiting, for example, from greater wheel travel than a 4×4, the Hummer H3 has already won numerous stage victories on the Dakar. Originally built on the basis of the American 'Score' regulations, the Hummer will now operate under an FIA label and will therefore be able to be entered in a greater number of events. »

The rally-raid program begins this year for MY Racing, with the Hail Rally in Saudi Arabia, an event well known to Yazeed Al-Rajhi, who will be entrusted with a Hummer here before the Dakar in early 2014. “With Yazeed, we have defined an ambitious rally-raid program for this 2013 season. And the participation of Yazeed Al-Rajhi with the MY Racing Hummer in the 2014 Dakar has already been confirmed. Work on transforming our second Hummer to FIA standards has also already started and it will be available in just a few weeks”, concludes Charles Deffontaines.
