Towards the summits

The French Mountain Championship continues to grow. A very spectacular discipline and widely followed throughout France, it is experiencing great popularity a few days before the start of the season with a 30% increase in the number of entrants throughout the year.

Four drivers purchased 2009 version Norma trays out of the eight entered in the Sport Protos category where we find Alain Castellana, Cyrille Frantz, Daniel Bassora, Franck Cannata and Jordan Milesi in 3 L.

In single-seaters, premier category, Lionel Régal (Reynard Nippon equipped with new electronic engine management) will defend his title against Sébastien Petit (Raynard 95D), dominant at the end of last season, Nicolas Schatz (Lola T94/50) and Fabien Frantz (Reynard 92D ex-Chambérod). They will be accompanied by Alban Thomas, Benoît Bouche and Billy Ritchen.

This 2009 season also confirms the rise of GT whether in “Series” or “Special” with around ten Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Lotus and Hommell who will host each event. Georges Soutrenon, Nicolas Werver (Porsche 996 Cup) and Philippe Couesnon (Maserati 4200 GT) will be the headliners.

Finally, the Promotion Challenge promises to be just as competitive for its first season with the presence of twenty amateur competitors in seven to nine championship events.

First meeting of the season in Bagnols-Sabran from Saturday April 4.
