After carrying out their reconnaissance this week, the crews of the 8e and last test of theERC 2023 got into the swing of things today. In the middle of the day, the shakedown and qualification were held on a 4 km stretch in Nyiregyhaza. At the wheel of his Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 Mikolaj Marczyk set the best time in the free practice ahead of the sister cars of Erik Cais and Martins Sesks. A little later, at the time of qualification, the double Polish champion (2019, 2021) did it again. This time he won ahead of Sesks and Josh McErlean. Yoann Bonato signed on the 7the time and Mathieu Franceschi on the 11the. At the start of the evening, the launch of the rally was carried out through the Rabocsiring superspecial (2,40 km).
Once again, Mikolaj Marczyk proved to be the fastest. He won in front of Sesks and Cais. Behind this trio of Skodas who are grouped in 1′, Mads Ostberg was in ambush at 1”4. The Norwegian is ahead of 2022 champion Efren Llarena and local Frigyes Turan. Author of a half spin, Miklos Csomos who is one of the favorites is only 11e. On the French side, Bonato had to be satisfied with 9e rank while Mathieu Franceschi was further away (12e).
In the turbulent Junior category, the Italian Roberto Daprà is the first leader ahead of Timo Schulz, Patrik Herczig and Norbert Maior the championship leader.
Tomorrow the competitors will have a busy stage since it consists of 7 special stages and just under 120 timed km.
