Artem Severyukhin deprived of his Italian license

Sanctions continue to fall for Artem Severyukhin following his Nazi salute on the podium of the European Championship karting disputed in Portimão. The young Russian driver, whose team announced that it had decided to terminate his contract, was notified of the withdrawal of his Italian license by the ACI, the Automobile Club d'Italia.

He had in fact received the latter, as required by the regulations of the International Automobile Federation, which allows young drivers of all nationalities greater freedom of movement possible between international federations so that they can develop professionally in countries with a great motorsport culture and help them in their training as professional drivers. In 2021, 355 drivers of various nationalities had obtained the Italian license for karting.

“These measures were inevitable, because Severyukhin’s thoughtless act showed a lack of respect not only for the universal values that have always inspired all sports, but also for humanity, dignity and civil coexistence”, we can read in the press release. Severyukhin is also referred to Sports Justice to assess other sanctions. The FIA has also opened an investigation.
