The first qualifying round of the World RX in Hell in Norway saw the best time for the Finn Niclas Grönholm (GRX – Hyundai) in 2’39″923. Back in the World Championship peloton after appendicitis surgery, the son of the double world champion WRC did not miss his first laps for his return to competition.

Grönholm is ahead of Andreas Bakkerud (Monster Energy RX Cartel – Audi S1) and Timur Timerzyanov (GRX – Hyundai), while Timmy Hansen (Team Hansen – Peugeot 208) and Kevin Abbring (ES Motorsport – Skoda Fabia) enter the top 5.

Cyril Raymond (GCK Academy – Renault Clio) finished 11th just behind Kevin Hansen (Team Hansen – Peugeot), when Guerlain Chicherit (GC Kompetition – Renault Megane R.S. RX), author of a false start, and therefore forced to go through the joker lap twice, signed the 14th time.

Bad start to the weekend for Janis Baumanis (STARD – Ford Fiesta), involved in a collision with Guillaume de Ridder (GCK Academy – Renault Clio) at the start of his qualifying heat.
