Alexey Lukyanuk leads the Canaries

Author of six scratches in six events, the Russian Alexey Lukyanuk (Ford Fiesta R5) took control of the Rally Islas Canarias, second round of theERC 2017. The European vice-champion, penalized by 10″ for an early start in SS2, nevertheless has a lead of 25″7 over the Skoda Fabia R5 of Bruno Magalhães, and 27″9 over the Ford Fiesta R5 of outgoing double European champion Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

The Spaniard Ivan Ares places his Hyundai i20 R5 in fourth position 35″3 ahead of his compatriots José Maria López (Peugeot 208 T16 R5) and Cristian Garcia (Ford Fiesta R5). The first Frenchman Sylvain Michel (Skoda Fabia R5) is in seventh place at 45″ and precedes Luis Monzon (Ford Fiesta R5) and Bryan Bouffier (Ford Fiesta R5), ninth at 1'00″5 after experiencing brake problems this Friday.

The stage was notably marked by the very spectacular accident of Tomasz Kasperczyk (Ford Fiesta R5), fortunately not serious for the crew.
